Beatriz Felício

  • Beatriz Felício, 26 years old, can't find an explanation for why Fado came into her life - “I wish I had a better story to tell, one that comes from my family, from my parents or my grandparents, but no. It's inexplicable.”

In his house, “you could hear a little bit of everything, but you couldn’t hear fado.”

At the age of 6, he discovered Amália Rodrigues on television, singing “Vou dar de beber à dor”, and everything changed:

“I was captivated, completely in love. I believe it is something stronger than physical strength, it has to be. My connection to fado is so strong, so intense, I really need to sing.” That was enough to tell her mother her life decision: “I want to be a fado singer.” 20 years later, she is not only a fado singer, but also has her first album to share.

“This is where I will show what I am made of, what I like, what I sing, what I do, who Beatriz Felício is”.

“I’m from Damaia, my whole family lives there”

She studied in Amadora and it was also there that she began singing, first at school parties, then in traditional restaurants and on television. At the age of 17, she took part in the RTP Song Festival with a song composed by musician and producer Jorge Fernando and, at the same time, she took a Psychology course at the Catholic University of Portugal - “I always wanted to listen and understand others. With Psychology, I learned to switch off, I learned that I had to be more patient."

"It was also an agreement she made with her parents, a plan B in parallel to music."

In 2021, the Ageas New Talents Award confirmed the correctness of the choices made. She was the first fado singer to win the distinction and the notoriety and the amount raised allowed her to focus on what she wanted most for her life: singing.

Since then, in addition to being a regular presence in legendary Lisbon venues such as “Parreirinha de Alfama”, “O Faia”, “O Corrido” and “Fama de Alfama”.

Beatriz Felício continued to respect her references (Amália Rodrigues, Fernanda Maria, Lucília do Carmo... etc.), released her first single (“A canção da Bia”, 2023) and now released her first album under her own name “Beatriz Felício”. Produced by Ângelo Freire - “who has known me since I was little and managed to bring out the best in me”, the album features lyrics by the poet and fado singer António Rocha, the singer-songwriter Carlos Leitão, the fado singers Teresinha Landeiro, Hélder Moutinho and Tiago Correia, Ana Lúcia, the musicians Paulo Valentim, Nuno Figueiredo, Fernando Gomes and Francisco Guimarães, or the singer-songwriter Cátia Oliveira, A Garota Não.

“These are completely different views of me and my life. This is where I will show what I am made of, what I like, what I sing, what I do, who Beatriz Felício is.”

To the public, he leaves a guarantee: “All the choices were made with a background of truth. At 26 years old, I already have a big suitcase full, which has become an album with a story to tell."

With immense happiness, she says that in 2024 she was invited by Fado singer Camané to sing in two concerts, at Culturgest and on the main stage of Santa Casa Alfama.

At the beginning of 2025, she was also invited by D.A.M.A to sing at Meo Arena.
